Trip Pilos – Kiparissia – Messinia
As you go north west you see Pilos and Kiparissia. Pilos is one of the prettiest towns in Messinia. It was built amphitheatrically between two hills in 1828 under the request of the French General Maison.
This town looks like a greek island on land. In the center of the town thereÂ’s a monument of three admirals and two canons in honor of those who died during the Navarino Sea Battle in 1827. 7km north from Pilos thereÂ’s Gialova. GialovaÂ’s lagoon is a protected area where many rare aquatic species live.
Most of them is under extinction. Voidokilia is an extraordinary beach near Gialova you must visit. A few miles away is Kiparissia, a town built between the sea and the roots of mt. Psichro. It combines the old with the new. The Kiparissian Gulf is a wild life sanctuary for caretta–caretta.
